Salvation Army Adopt a Family 2022

Over $800 to Help Two Families This Holiday Season

Each year our club adopts two families in our local area that are may have difficulty being able to pay for their families everyday needs and provide their family with a holiday celebration and gifts.   That often puts these individuals under additional financial stress.    Our club has been committed over the years to helping relieve the stress of two local families.

This year through donations from our club members Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg North was able to raise over $800 to help two families provide their family with gifts this holiday season!

Special thanks to:
  • Dave Getz for reaching out to the Salvation Army to find two families to sponsor
  • Vonnie and Dave for going shopping
  • Glen and Betty for delivering the gifts to the families
  • All club members that contributed funds to help these families

Seeking Help for Ukraine - Generators Needed

With the Russians now targeting infrastructure, there is obvious concern for Ukrainians surviving the winter.

The last air attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure caused severe power shortages and damage to the power grid. This is the cause of the dramatic request to help Ukraine with power generators to supply hospital departments in Butcha (the city near Kyiv, in which Russian soldiers have committed severe war crimes).

Helping a Hero Golf Tournament

HELPING A HERO GOLF OUTING 2014

Rotary Supports Local Disable Vets
Friday, July 25, 2014 • Carlisle Barracks Golf Club
Start Time 1:00 pm

For the last three years, the Mechanicsburg North and Carlisle Rotary Clubs have joined forces with HelpingaHero.org, a 501(c)3 organization, to construct specially adapted homes for severely injured veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan. Our goal in providing homes to our wounded heroes is to equip them to transition successfully into their local community and to provide the tools they need to succeed in life.

Thus, we build specially adapted homes that allow our wounded service members to be as independent as possible and we place these homes, where we can, in communities where they receive ongoing support from neighbors, other military organizations and their local Rotary Club. In the past three years, we have raised more than $100,000 each year which, when coupled with donations of property, materials and labor from local businesses, enables us to build specially adapted homes valued at more than $275,000.
