Vocational Service focuses on the opportunity that Rotarians have to represent their professions as well as their efforts to promote vocational awareness and high ethical standards in business. From offering career guidance in high schools, to seeking ways to improve conditions in the workplace, Rotarians and their clubs engage in many different kinds of vocational service.

Apple Dumpling Reading Program: A reading project for 2nd graders in the Cumberland Valley School District featuring The Andy and Elmer Apple Dumpling Adventure, which focuses on Rotary’s Four Way TestAfter the reading, each student receives a workbook with the story and child friendly activities that reinforce the Four Way Test.
 
Dictionary Program: Dictionaries are purchased by the club and distributed to  3rd graders in the Cumberland Valley School District by a Rotarian.  An appropriate lesson plan is presented when the dictionaries are distributed.   
 
Four Way Test Essay Contest:  In coordination with the English Department of the Cumberland Valley High School, an essay contest for 9th graders is held on the topic of Rotary’s “Four Way Test.”  Entries are screened by school faculty with recommended essays forwarded to a Rotarian review team.  Cash prizes are awarded to the top winners.
 
Junior Achievement: Coordinate a program using Junior Achievement to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives.
 
Students of the Month and Students of the Year Scholarships: Working with Cumberland Valley High School and Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School, selects students each month to attend Rotary meetings with their parents and receive recognition during the months of October, November, January, February, March, and April. A male and female senior from Cumberland Valley and a male and female senior from Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School are selected each of these six months.
 
Facilitates the selection of four students of the month to each receive a $1,250 scholarship for post high school education – a male and female from Cumberland Valley High School and a male and female from Cumberland Perry Area Vocational Technical School.  Attends the awards ceremonies at these schools when the scholarships are presented.  These ceremonies are typically held in late-May. The Vo-Tech scholarship is called the Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg North Tony Vicic Memorial Scholarship in memory of Dr. Tony Vicic, a member of Rotary Club of Mechanicsburg North up until his death in 2002. Children of Rotarians are not eligible for these scholarships.
